Game Update: Sun trounce Mystics, 87-79
The Sun scored the first 19 points of the third quarter, quickly putting away the Washington Mystics in an 87-79 win at Mohegan Sun Arena. Asjha Jones scored 16 points, Lindsay Whalen had 15 and Tamika Whitmore 13, and the Sun weathered a late surge and career night from Monique Currie (28 points) to cruise to the win. Alana Beard added a quiet 21 points for Washington, if there is such a thing.

That was probably the 21 most quiet points ever scored. You had McWilliams-Franklin, Beard, and then a cliff-like drop off in productivity.
Oddly enough, the game probably hurt the perception of the Sun more than it helped them. With Washington putting in such a non-effort, the Sun should have put the screws to the Mystics and blown them out by 30, not let them come back and have the Sun win only by eight points against the second worst team in the WNBA.
But as they say, a win is a win is a win.
